Jeanne's interview

Now I have an interview from a female account of being a Pre-Baby Boomer. Listen(or read) about her personal opinions on the urban public transportation in Houston and issues concerning senior driving.

What’s your name: Jeanne O.
Age (   67 1/2 )?
Where are you from?
-          -"I'm from Houston Texas."
Did you always live there? 
-"Not always but I was born near here, rasied here and I came back when I was an adult."
So you love it?
- "Oh, not necessarily."
What dont you like about it?
-" The weather the pollution the traffic. Everything...but it does offer al lot of things that a big city does so it has some redeeming values. but it is not the most beautiful place in the world."
Are you retired or are you still in the work force?
 - " I would call myself semi retired. I've been retired this past year but would accept you know short term contracts.I've been offered a few but they weren't geographically desirable- way out in town- where I'd have to be out on the freeway. I probably will take a short time contracting the future- a one to three month assignment in 2013 but for intents and purposes I'm retired."

-"I am married. My husband is semi retired as well."
Hoe old is he?
-"He's 66 or will be 66 this month."
Kids? Age(43 and 41)
-"My husband has two sons."
When did you start driving?
-"When I was 16."
How did you learn to drive?
 -" I learn in Austin, Texas, in drivers education and my parents."
What was your first car?(describe it)
 - "Some crazy car. I cant remember actually. It was green."
How many cars are in your household
-"Three." 
 What are they?
-" Well my husband as an SUV Expedition, which is a big car that we use while going on trips in retirement. My car is a Toyota four runner and my husband's car is Ford two 50 truck."
Do you (her husband and her) use the truck much?
-"Not at all."
What do you use the car for?
-"Just running around down town primary. Or going some where I need to go by myself. I also take t on the road when I go on trips with my girl friends."
How is your health?( are you physical disable, vision decline, hearing impaired, history of strokes etc. not good for long distances)
-"Pretty good. Some days I feel younger and some days I feel older. Its just depending on how much my joints are achy."
Do you have any accidents?
-"Uh, yeah... I haven't had any this year but the previous year I had five."
 What where they(about)?
- "three were in backing up problems. Because I had a different car then that didn't have good viability and I also had a neck issue, where I couldn't turn my head very well. Didn't have a background camera so I back into several things. Two in-front of my house."
How many accident would you say you’ve been in since being a driver?( in the car or driving a car)

Would you say you get in more accidents as you’ve gotten older?

Is that because of the quality of drivers on the road or you fault?

What are some problems that you thing people your age would have with drivng?

Do you feel that your generation, your friends of the same of the same age are bad or good drivers? Or is it more a case by case rating? Where they bad drivers in the first place dispite their age?

What role do you think doctors have in this issue? Should they be able to revoke their licenses?

Online and on the news there are lots of people, doctors, lawyers, common man, bloggers who  starting at what time or at what point senior rivers are unfit to drive?

Do you think it is age that is the deciding factor to when someone is unfit to drive?

Or do you think it is health issues that are the factors?

Do you feel that you are fit to drive? When do you think you are no longer fit to drive? What signs or issues would you think someone should give up their keys?
