Many are concern as to the impacts and issues that will come with the Baby boomer generation on the rise to going the aging population. The first Baby Boomer, Kathy Casey-Kirschling turned 65 on January 1st, 2011 and she’s just the first of many to come. The coined “Baby Boomer” generation officially began on January 1st, 1946, according to the Census Bureau, and is attributed to the growth in the infancy births when soldiers returning home from World War II started or expanded their families, which reversed a long decline in the U.S. birth rate. The Pew Research Center says that there are Seventy-nine million people in this generation, stretching 19 years through 1964, and they making up a quarter of the US population. This generation is currently age 66 to 47. (Taylor, 2005) It also has to be taken into account that the older generation is still working, pushing back the retirement line, meaning that they still need a method of transportation to their work place. Labor force projections of 2014 says that the labor force will continue to age, with the annual growth rate of the 55-and-older group projected to be 4.1 percent, 4 times the rate of growth of the overall labor force.(Toossi, 2005) As of 2012, the census  accounts 4.4 percent of the civilian labor force  to be 65 and over.(Toossi, 2009)
